92 UNB V-Reds finish tour with Gold in Montreal
At the Great Pond Shootout in Herbie Madil's rink! The V-Reds captured Gold for the second time this spring. The Reds defeated the 91 born Lakeshore Biss All-Stars 16 - 9 in the 3 on 3 final in Kirkland Quebec. Team members included Zack Shannon and Tyler Piercy from Fredericton, Garrett Clarke- Moncton, Kevin Gagne-Edmundston, Nick Cyr- Grand Falls, Sean Couturier- Bathurst, Brandon Hynes- Norris Point, NFLD and exchange player Oskar Orrpars- stockholm Sweden.
For the Reds a very strong spring comes to an end with Bronze in Sweden / Gold twice in Montreal and Silver in New York. Next up for the V-Red Players are the July Advanced Camps at UNB.
An outstanding goaltending performance by Reds goalie Tyler Piercy and solid play all around allowed the Reds to defeat the strong older team best 2 out 3 starting and Saturday at noon and ending Sunday morning here in Montreal.
Oskar Orrpars who played for the V-Reds during their April Swedish U16 Tour will stay in Canada and compete in many upcoming events with the UNB Group. Many of the 92 group have played together since their Novice Hockey days and this marks the potential end of the road as a group as they now all enter their QMJHL Draft Year and will most likely go their separate ways.
