- Dec 28, 2008 - The VRed Prospects Program is very pleased to announce that our 98 VReds program has expanded this year to include two Fredericton-based teams: “98 VRed Regional Prospects” and “98 VRed Prospects”. Our new “Regional Prospects” team, coached by UNB Associate Coach Todd Sparks, had a very successful ID camp earlier this fall. The “Regional Prospects” team will focus on Regional/Maritime tournaments, thus representing a less travel option, whereas the “Prospects” team will largely focus on Quebec and New England tournaments. There will be a close working relationship between both teams with opportunities for player movements being a possibility.
Based on the level of interest in both teams, and the goals of the organization for each, a program decision has been made to have open evaluations for all positions on both teams. These evaluation ice-times will take place on: January 4th (11:20AM-12:50PM); and January 11th (11:20AM-12:50PM). The evaluations will be conducted by a team consisting of coaches from each group and VReds Varsity players. All 98’s, including returning players, are urged to attend these sessions. If you are unable to attend one, please let us know ASAP. It is anticipated that the rosters of both teams will be selected and finalized before the end of January with the objective of having two very competitive 98 VReds teams.
